What's In A Name...or a Bag?

I have been working on two things this morning:

1. Packing my hospital bag (I probably would keep postponing it, but I have a list of things to do and I would rather pack a bag than vacuum out the car)

2. Coming up with baby boy names that I actually like

So, I need some help/advice.

1. What would you take to the hospital with you?

AND

2. do you have any good names suggestions/ideas?

For names we are thinking something good and strong, but maybe a little more unique than the top ten most common boy names.  (I know, we usually go that way)

And for the bag, all I can think of is an outfit for the baby, postpartum clothes for me and some snacks for Tyson, maybe a game or a book so he won't be too bored.  That is about all I have.

So really, what is your advice?

  1. Packing a hospital bag is such a distant memory I can't even remember. Nursing pads, maybe? Boppy?

I totally had to look up the top 20 baby names (I am so out of my league already!)...but Samuel isn't even in the top 20 anymore! Sam's middle name is Walker. Samuel Walker is an OLD family name that dates back to the Civil War....so I feel like he's my little bit of Virginia wherever we go. Joshua, Caleb, Matthew and Samuel? "Sam Cooper"... now there's an honest man's name! Yeah, that's my vote! I'm always partial to Joseph too though. Joe's middle name is Everett, but it was almost Joseph Sterling or Joseph Henry.

    1. Such good names! Matthew was almost Joseph. Sam Cooper does sound good. :)

  2. Adam and I usually take a laptop for some Netflix time passage... although Adam spent the whole last time studying for his licensing exam. Hahaha. Laptop is also nice for blogging/posting a few pics for all the begging relatives. Other than that... I am pretty minimal. I do like having my nursing pillow, but it's not a must. And it is hard to get decent deal/shampoo/conditioner at a hospital... so it can be nice to bring your own with the other toiletries... that's all that really comes to mind. For names... try your family tree online... sometimes you can get cool ideas that way... and some family heritage is good too sometimes. :) getting excited for you!

  3. Me giving YOU advice is absolutely hilarious, but I kept my list of things I took to the hospital so I might as well share. So here are a few things I was glad I had: shower flip flops, my own shampoo/conditioner/etc., an empty tote to bring home hospital goodies, mini notebook & pen, ipod with soothing playlists, lanolin, nursing bra, camera and charger--chargers of all kinds, for that matter. Hmm yes, I guess that is it. Love you!
