Mom Moments

Some people ask me "what do you do all day?" I used to ask stay at home mom's the same question. I mean, how do you keep yourself busy all day long? How hard can watching kids be? And even if you know how hard it can be, you still wonder how to keep from getting bored. I rarely feel bored now. But sometimes I reflect as I clean up the toys for the hundredth time or as I wash out Josh's underwear because he still doesn't grasp complete toilet training, or just when I sit down to relax and someone starts crying or wants something, I think "What am I doing? I feel like I am running in circles going nowhere and I am dragging my family around with me. Are my kids even progressing?"

Then there are moments where I see a glimmer of my purpose here on earth. Josh says something profound or sounds out a word he sees. Caleb shares or gives me a kiss and snuggle. And those smiles, those precious moments make up for all the difficult ones. I wanted to post these pictures because they are some of these moments to me. How can you not be happy with your life when you see these smiles?

Yes, we couldn't find him anywhere and then we found him in the closet, sleeping, sitting up. :)

They posed like this by themselves. I love Zuri's face.

So maybe the life of a mom is somewhat monotonous, but it sure is crazy and the most rewarding responsibility I ever had.

  1. I LOVE the picture of Josh sleeping in the closet. The story behind it is great!

So glad you love being a Mommy. It's the hardest job I've ever had but the most rewarding ever!

  2. Love the pictures! I can't wait to be a mommy!! It's just around the corner.

So funny story... one time, when I was like six and my sister was like four.. she got lost. No one could find her anywhere. We lived in the country at the time (Powhatan). We shared a bunk bed and my mom asked me to check the bed. I did but didn't see her anywhere. I even checked the top bunk, which was mine. We looked outside, everywhere. She was nowhere to be found. So, my mom, freaking out, called the police and her parents to come help look for her. I remember being in awe at the sight of it all. Finally, Ashley was found sleeping between the wall and the top bunk. She'd gotten stuck there in her sleep and I didn't see her when I looked. Boy, was I in trouble! Oops! :)

And another quick story- when I was young (but older than I was in the first story), I wanted people to be looking for me and not know where I was. I wanted to be found sleeping in the closet, so I would hide in the closet and let myself fall asleep on purpose. I don't think I've ever told anyone that story... I guess I wanted attention or something, I don't know. I know, I'm a weirdo.

  3. So cute, you're such a good mama and aunt. I love the couch picture, the light looks awesome ... And for some reason my child always has a straight face in pictures. Like she doesn't know how to smile or something

  4. So true! Motherhood is the hardest job EVER. But definitely the most rewarding. How many people get to see what they create grow and develop right in front of you?:)
